Homeless man allegedly stole ink valued at €1,370 from shop in  Laois 

Portlaoise District Court

A homeless man appeared in court accused of stealing ink cartridges worth €1,370 from a shop in Portlaoise. 

Zaza Chautidze (46) of No Fixed Abode, Laois is accused of stealing the ink cartridges from Tesco in Laois Shopping Centre,  Portlaoise on March 31, 2025. 

The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court via video link. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case could be dealt with in the district court.  

Andrew Dunne BL requested disclosure in the case. 

Judge Andrew Cody ordered disclosure within three weeks and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 23.
