With nature in full bloom, birds provided a dusk chorus creating the perfect backdrop for the 10-kilometre cycle along the scenic Barrow Line of the Blueway. Cyclists left Vicarstown and took in the breathtaking view along the Blueway to Fisherstown, on our return to Vicarstown the sunset was spectacular, with a beautiful orange sky. The guide for the evening cycle was Chris Miller, who enriched the experience by sharing fascinating knowledge about the history of the canal, its iconic bridges, and the local area. The event not only encouraged physical activity but also highlighted the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area, a perfect combination to inspire continued engagement in Active Travel.
Majella Moore, Laois PPN Administrator, “A special thank you to Chris Miller for providing anenjoyable and informative guide during the ‘Sunset Cycle’ family event. Thank you to John Scully from the SVT Activity & Wellness Hub and to all PPN Member Groups for attending on the evening. Laois PPN would also like to acknowledge Anne-Marie Maher Sports & Leisure Officer and her team at Laois County Council on the coordination and support with the events held across Laois during ‘Bike Week 2025’.
