Hayley Jones was the match winner and the star of the show as Killadooley edged out Ballinakill in a camogie classic. The corner forward scored 7-4, including the match winning goal, in a simply stunning display.

Sinead Fitzpatrick and Croiadh O'Mara were excellent for Ballinakill but their efforts just weren't enough. Ballinakill started the contest well with a score from Croiadh O'Meara but Killadooley drew level through Hayley Jones.

Killadooley 9-4

Ballinakill 7-6

And the match quickly became about the Killadooley corner forward as she tormented the Ballinakill defence for the next ten minutes. She scored four goals and two more points as her heroics attempted to take the game away in the early stages of the first half. But credit to Ballinakill, they stuck at it and got themselves back into the game by half time.

Croiadh O'Mara added two more points while Sinead Fitzpatrick also raised a white flag. And midfielder Fitzpatrick went even better by the interval as she scored two goals to cut the deficit - 4-3 to 2-4. The first half started in a flash as Jones and O'Mara exchanged goals in the opening minute.

Eva Finlay became the first non-Jones scorer for Killadooley with a goal but Ballinakill hit back again. O'Mara scored a point and Fitzpatrick completed her hat-trick to leave it 6-3 to 4-5 with ten minutes to play.

And then we were level when O'Mara crashed in for her second goal to set up an exciting finish. Ballinakill took the lead when Sinead Fitzpatrick scored her fourth goal of the afternoon but the gap was quickly back to one as Jones pointed.

That was moments before she put Killadooley back ahead with her sixth goal only for O'Mara to level matters again with a point. Killadooley went back ahead when Eimear Hickey's long range shot sailed into the top corner of the net.

But the drama wasn't over as Sinead Fitzpatrick drew Ballinakill level again with her fifth goal. However, fittingly, Jones proved the winner with her late goal to claim glory for Killadooley. TEAMS AND SCORERS BELOW PICTURE.
