Clough proved far too strong for Castlecuffe as they claimed the Division 5 camogie championship on Wednesday afternoon, May 14. They ran out 29-point victors in one of the more one-sided finals of the series.
Clough 11-8
Castlecuffe 0-1
Abi Boyhan was in fine form in front of goals, but this was a total domination by the victors. Castlecuffe tried very hard, but they just couldn’t turn their endeavour into scores. Clough were in charge of this one from the start and raced into a big lead.
Abi Boyhan was sensational as she got four goal chances and took every one of them with incredible accuracy. Orla McEvoy contributed two points while Elle Maher scored another as Clough dominated the first half. Castlecuffe struggled to break down Clough but they did get one chance before the break which they took. Roisin Delaney did really well to convert a free from long range to leave it 4-3 to 0-1 at half time.
Clough got back on top when play resumed as Abi Boyhan and Elise Ryan added points before Meabh O’Shea smashed in a goal. Castlecuffe kept trying to build attacks but they just couldn’t get the ball beyond the Clough midfield.
Abi Boyhan completed her double hat-trick while Maya Streit also got her name on the scoresheet with a brilliant strike from distance. Goals followed from Orla McEvoy and Mila Maher as Clough ran out handsome winners. TEAMS AND SCORERS BELOW PICTURE.
