There was a highly anticipated Portlaoise derby to decide the 2025 Cumann na mBunscol Division 6 Camogie Shield final, with Gaelscoil Phortlaoise getting the better of Scoil Bhríde Portlaoise on a spectacular day in Laois Hire O’Moore Park.

It was the Gaelscoil that started the game the brighter, with two goals from the deadly Sophie Delmara giving her side the lead. It was end to end for the next ten minutes until Gaelscoil broke free again as Rachael Ní Uallacháin flicked the ball beautifully into the back of the net.

Fourth and fifth goals were to follow as Scoil Bhríde twice failed to clear their lines as Sadie Ní Bhuacháin made the most of both chances to raise two green flags in quick succession. Leah Sandgrove and Ní Uallacháin slotted the game’s first points, and the goals kept coming moments later when Delmara found space at the back post to nudge home another goal, completing her hat-trick in the process.

Not to be outdone, Ní Bhuacháin ended the half with a hat-trick of her own after a pin-point strike to finish off her blistering run. That left Gaelscoil up by 7-3 to 0-0 at half time.

They introduced Mia Ní Uallacháin off the bench at the interval who scored with practically her first touch of the final. Five minutes later and Ní Uallacháin added a goal to her tally with a delightful finish beyond Versana Lozda-Manucarova.

Led by a solid performance in Midfield from Angelina Hoa Thien Pham, Scoil Bhríde were a much-improved side in the second half. But the magnificent Ní Uallacháin was not to be denied and fired home her of the game heading into the final quarter.

Mia Sobczyk then broke the deadlock for Scoil Bhríde, but there was barely time to celebrate before Megan Ní Cheallaigh brough Gaelscoil’s goal-tally into double figures. There was an eleventh goal late on when Niamh Ní Chlaonáin went on a brilliant solo run before lobbing the ball into the net to bring the game to a close. TEAMS AND SCORERS BELOW PICTURES.
