A dominant display from Holy Family saw them lift the Roinn 6 Camogie Championship title, with standout performances across the pitch and a ruthless forward line proving too much for Abbeyleix.
Keeva Phelan got Holy Family off to the perfect start with two excellent points from play. Abbeyleix hit back swiftly with Sadhbh McAuliffe netting a superb goal to draw her side level.
Holy Family 6-5
Abbeyleix 4-0
However, the response from Holy Family was emphatic. Ellie Fennell took control of the forward line, striking for two goals in quick succession before Chloe Johnston added another point. Fennell completed her first-half hat-trick just before the break, and Ruth Gorman also found the net to leave Holy Family in a commanding position at half-time, 4-3 to 1-0.
Ayla Moore made an immediate impact after her introduction, scoring Holy Family’s fifth goal, while Phelan added a third point to cap a fine performance. Johnston followed up her earlier point with a well-taken goal, and Gorman chipped in with a point to round out the scoring for the Portlaoise side.
Abbeyleix kept battling, with McAuliffe completing a fine individual performance by adding two more goals to seal her hat-trick, and she wasn’t done there, scoring a fourth to finish with all of Abbeyleix’s tally.
Despite McAuliffe’s efforts, Holy Family’s scoring power and spread of contributors ensured they secured the silverware in style. TEAMS AND SCORERS BELOW PICTURE.
