Laois County Council have told Councillors that there is no funding in 2025 to address the severe road surface issues on a Laois road.
The L1514 road is located in Doon, between Rathdowney and Borris-in-Ossory.
Fine Gael Councillor Conor Bergin requested that these works be a as a matter of urgency.
Mr Rory O'Callaghan, Senior Executive Engineer with Laois County Council, replied that the road is included in the 2026 Restoration Improvement Works Programme.
"There is no funding available for this work in 2025," Mr O'Callaghan replied.

Cllr Bergin thanked him for his reply, and expressed his disappointment in the response.
"This really badly needs to be done, when you are heading to Borris-in-Ossory from the Rathdowney direction, once you go over the railway bridge between there and the motorway bridge, there's a really bad section along there," Cllr Bergin argued.
"This is an immediate need of works. Other roads in the area have been included for the 2025 programme, and it is one that should be considered for a swap. I am getting calls about this regularly. People living on the road are seeing other roads being done, and some of them aren't in as bad condition as this one," he said.
"That was a regional road that was downgraded to an L road. It's quite a narrow stretch of road, it's not a long section in bad condition either, it's just between the motorway and the railway bridge.
"It's in shambolic condition, and I hope it's something that can be looked at. I know that funding is tight, but it is one road that should be swapped and done this year. I would appreciate it, as I am getting calls regularly," Cllr Bergin finished.
Fellow Fine Gael Cllr from Rathdowney, Cllr John King, gave his support to the motion.
"It is a short piece of road and serves the road coming up to the school and then into Borris-in-Ossory," Cllr King said.
"It's only about a mile long, it certainly needs to be included. I would like to see this done," he finished.
This motion was tabled at the May sitting of Laois County Council's Borris-in-Ossory / Mountmellick Municipal District.
