Laois County Council has been requested to carry out roadworks on several local roads between Portlaoise and Mountmellick.
Fine Gael Cllr Paddy Buggy tabled two motions asking for action, to the June meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.
He firstly asks for road strengthening works in Kyletalesha on the Derryguile road.
"This road runs parallel to the N80. When there is an incident it becomes the road for traffic use. It is a vital piece of infrastructure. I would welcome that it would be considered for work next year," Cllr Buggy said.
He also asks for road drainage works in Straboe, on the border to Eyne.
"It's kind of a health and safety issue. There is a bend and the water is gathering. You have to stay on the wrong side, if you can sort it this year," Cllr Buggy requested.

For the L6118 Derryguile road, the council says it will examine the road and consider it for inclusion in the 2026 roads programme.
For the Straboe road, the engineer has offered to meet on site and view the drainage issues.
