A Laois road will close this week to accommodate road resurfacing works.

A section of the R-435 between Rathdowney and Borris-in-Ossory, will see roadworks from Tuesday July 22 to Friday July 25.

This road is used regularly as it services Ballybrophy train station, and provides access to the M7.

Road works will take place along a 500 metre stretch between Donaghmore Village and Rathdowney.

Motorists cannot bypass these works by travelling via Coolfin to Donaghmore.

Borris-in-Ossory, Donaghmore and Ballybrophy will be inaccessible from Rathdowney.

Those wishing to travel between Borris-in-Ossory and Rathdowney are recommended to travel via Ballacolla, with Ballybrophy train station and the M7 inaccessible from the Rathdowney side of the R-435.

Road resurfacing works will take place from 8am on Tuesday until 6pm on Friday.
