The Veteran Car Club hosts a special three-day event commemorating the historic 1903 Gordon Bennett Race — a defining moment in Irish and international motorsport history, which has long and surviving links to Laois.
The commemorative run, which is based in Wicklow but will visit Laois, will bring together members from Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the UK, showcasing a stunning collection of pre-1919 veteran cars.
Over three days, participants will follow organised routes through the scenic landscapes of counties Kildare, Carlow, Laois and Wicklow, stopping at key heritage and cultural landmarks along the way. These planned heritage stops will offer the public a rare opportunity to view these beautiful vintage vehicles up close and learn more about the legacy of the Gordon Bennett Race.
Public display in various places throughout the counties of Kildare & Wicklow, eg: Kildare Curragh Military Museum ( Friday 15th August, 15:15 to 16:00 approx.), Russborough House, Blessington (Saturday 16th August 11.15pm to 12.45pm approx.)

The memory of Gordon Bennett as a significant motoring event has been kept alive by Laois classic and vintage car enthusiasts who organise the Gordon Bennett Vintage Rally every year in Laois. Headquartered in Portlaoise, the event travels the roads of the counties covered by the original route annually.
The magnificent Russborough House & Gardens in Blessington, Co Wicklow (eircode W91 W284) host the event as part of Heritage Week on on Saturday, August 16 11:15am - 12:45pm.
