Emergency services are dealing with a collision on the M7 this morning.

It’s understood a number of vehicles have crashed blocking one lane and leading to long tailbacks. The traffic is likely to delay Electric Picnic festivalgoers who are travelling back towards Dublin.

“Incident update: Collision on M7 between J13 - KILDARE and J12 - NEWBRIDGE (Eastbound) Lanes affected: Lane 2  http://traffic.tii.ie,” Transport Infrastructure Ireland(TII) posted online.

Meanwhile, TII are warning motorists to exercise caution due to a pedestrian on the road.

At around 10am,  it said: “Between J18 Portlaoise (West) and J19 M7/M8 (2 kilometres west of the Portlaoise (formerly Maryborough) area). Pedestrian on road.”

They said “when approaching the area, reduce your speed and drive with caution.”
