Laois had two contestants in Ireland's version of the hit TV show Traitors which has just started on RTÉ but one was evicted in the first episode.

The first episode of the reality game show was screened on Sunday, August 31. It sees 24 contestants compete in Slane Castle for a large cash prize. Three are secretly designated as "Traitors" by the host. The other players are "Faithful" and must work to identify and banish the Traitors through a series of missions to increase the prize fund and nightly eliminations via voting at a Round Table.

The contestants from all around Ireland included two from Laois. One was kicked out in the first episode, while a second could be killed off in episode 2. Neither are traitors.

Gemma Lalor, aged 39, is an artist and holistic therapist based in Laois. She provides sound healing treatment with Tibetan singing bowls. She also offers bio healing, angelic healing, crystal healing and Rahanni healing.

She commented cryptically on her Facebook page after her appearance in the first episode.

"Didn't get a chance to look crooked," she said.

That was in reference to her eviction by contestant Andrew before she crossed the threshold of Slane Castle.

"That's the way the cookies crumble," said Gemma on the light entertainment show.

Mark White is the second Laois contestant. He is a deployment Team Lead at Ortus computing in Portlaoise. He commented on Linkedin after the first show aired.

"Decided to step way out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. What a show and what an experience. Hope your all enjoying it," he said.

The three traitors included Paudie, aged 68, a Retired Prison Officer, from Limerick. They said Mark would have to be 'murdered' early because he was 'so astute'.

The Laois IT man was one of three innocent people shortlisted by the Traitors for murder that will be revealed in episode 2.

Eamon, 36, a Garda from Tipperary and Katelyn, 32, Leadership Consultant, Galway are the other two other traitors.

The Traitors Ireland continues every Sunday at 9:30pm, Monday and Tuesday at 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player. Catch up on all the betrayal, banter and behind-the-scenes bombshells with The Traitors Ireland: Uncloaked directly after The Traitors Ireland.
