A man appeared in court accused of intimidating a witness at the courthouse. 

Jake Maher (21) of 9 North Frederick Street, Dublin 1, is accused of intimidating a witness at Portlaoise District Court, Main Street, Portlaoise, on July 20, 2023. 

A Garda Detective said the DPP had directed that the case could be heard in the district court. He said the defendant allegedly shouted at a woman, “you better not get (named individual) locked up or there will be murder” on the date in question. 

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on October 20.
