Portlaoise Train Station
Iarnród Éireann has announced that railway works on the line through Laois and Portlaoise train station will proceed during Storm Amy this Saturday, October 4.
Passengers will have to take a bus between Portlaoise train station and Thurles, in both directions.
However it has cancelled works on the Dublin to Wicklow line planned on Saturday and Sunday due to the storm forecast.
A Status Yellow - Wind warning for Ireland is in place from midday Friday until midnight, with the warning receding to coastal areas and Ulster on Saturday.
Met Éireann says Storm Amy will bring strong to near gale force and gusty southwesterly winds. They warn of difficult travelling conditions, debris, loose objects displaced with some fallen trees possible.
Iarnród Éireann say that track renewal and bridge maintenance works between Portlaoise and Thurles, and signalling works for the Cork Area Commuter Rail project between Mallow and Cork (evening only) will affect the following Intercity services on Saturday.
The Intercity services between Dublin Heuston and Cork / Limerick / Kerry will include bus transfers between Portlaoise and Thurles in both directions, and will operate to a revised timetable. Full details are at www.irishrail.ie and the Iarnród Éireann app.
Additionally, from 22:00hrs onwards, there will be bus transfers between Mallow and Cork in both directions on Cork/Mallow commuter services and on the 21:00hrs Heuston to Cork service.
Regarding their cancellation, Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that bridge replacement and coastal defence works between Dun Laoghaire and Greystones, which has been due to take place this Saturday and Sunday 4th and 5th October, have been cancelled.

"The works have been cancelled as forecast high winds arising from Storm Amy impact the safety of the proposed works due to the bridge lift involved, as well as work on exposed terrain on Bray Head."
As a result, full DART and Dublin to Rosslare Europort services will operate across the weekend. The works have been rescheduled to the weekend of 1st and 2nd November.
