A man admitted driving through a junction and crashing into another car in Laois last year.

Vatalii Rozhanskyi (44) of Apartment 26, Patrick Square, Waterford admitted driving carelessly at Kilbride, Portarlington on February 23, 2024.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant had approached the junction and drove “clear through the stop sign and collided with a second car” on the date in question. He said both divers were taken to hospital but there were no injuries. He said the man had no previous convictions.

Through an interpreter, the man said he worked for a company in Waterford. “I am so sorry for what happened,” he told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court

Judge Andrew Cody convicted the man and fined him €400 allowing him three months to pay.
