A brazen attack took place on a Laois Garda station last weekend.

Laois Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the front window of Mountmellick Garda Station was smashed.

It took place when the station was not occupied, some time between 10am on Sunday night, and 4am on Monday morning, October 13.

A Garda spokesperson told the Leinster Express / Laois Live more.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area to contact us with any information," they said.

The Garda station is on O'Moore Street in the town. Mountmellick is among the first towns in Ireland to have fully compliant public CCTV security cameras.
