Rathdowney-Errill’s Kieran Bowe has been chosen to referee this Sunday’s Laois Shopping Centre Senior Hurling Championship final between Camross and Clough-Ballacolla.

Bowe, a familiar figure on the Laois GAA scene for many years, will be the man with the whistle on SHC County Final day for the first time in his career. While he has previously been involved on County Final day as a linesman and fourth official, this marks his debut for the showpiece event.

The Rathdowney-Errill clubman will no doubt be hoping for a smooth game, particularly following the scenes that marred the conclusion of the last championship match he officiated between Clough-Ballacolla and The Harps on Friday, September 5.

This year, Bowe has already overseen several key championship games, starting with the opening round clash between The Harps and Abbeyleix, which was won by The Harps, the eventual Senior 'B' champions. He also took charge of Portlaoise’s 2-19 to 1-19 victory over The Harps in Round 2, Rosenallis’ 2-23 to 0-16 win against Castletown in Round 3, and Castletown’s narrow 2-18 to 2-16 triumph over Portlaoise in Round 4.

Sunday’s Senior Hurling Championship final throws in at 4pm in Laois Hire O’Moore Park, where Bowe will take the centre stage, overseeing what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the championship.
