A woman admitted throwing a drink into the face of a customer in McDonald's in Portlaoise. 

Stacey Perse (33) of 71 Clonmullion, Athy, Co Kildare, appeared before Portlaoise District Court accused of assault in relation to the incident on November 28, 2024. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardaí had received a report that a lady was assaulted by the defendant.  

He said it was alleged the woman began shouting at another woman and threw a drink at her hitting her in the face. He said the woman had no previous convictions. 

Anne Doyle BL said her client was pleading guilty to the offence. She said her client was not working and she requested legal aid. 

Judge Susan Fay said restorative justice should be explored and a victim impact statement should be canvassed in the case. She granted legal aid and adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on April 20.
