A Councillor believes there are issues with the speed reading signs on busy national and regional roads in east Laois.

In a motion tabled at a recent meeting in Portlaoise, Cllr Aisling Moran asked called on Laois County Council to repair the road speed radars on the N80 at Ballickmoyler and on the R430 at Drumagh (between Tolerton and Newton Cross).

“We are having a lot of problems with these speed radars,” she told the meeting.

Cllr Moran added that the speed sign in Ballickmoyler was installed two years ago but is already broken.

In a written response, Road Design stated that it had assessed the two areas.

"These speed radar signs will be fixed in the coming weeks,” said the reply.

The motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Vivienne Phelan at the October monthly meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
