Portlaoise-based Midland Steel Group recently played a major role in the rapid reconstruction of the George’s Dock Bridge in Dublin’s IFSC, following a major fire that caused extensive structural damage and disrupted Luas Red Line services earlier this year.
Working in collaboration with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and GPX Rail, Midland Steel Group supplied and installed its FasterFix offsite rebar solution, designed to speed up installation times on major infrastructure projects.
The two Midland Steel technicians completed the full bridge reinforcement installation in just one day, accelerating the overall project timeline to bring forward the reopening of the Luas services by one week.

“This project showcases how innovation, collaboration and the right technology can make a measurable difference in critical infrastructure delivery,” said CEO of Midland Steel Group, Tony Woods. “Our FasterFix system allows teams to build faster and safer, with minimal disruption, and we’re proud to have contributed to getting the Luas Red Line moving again so quickly,” he remarked.
The bridge, which sustained extensive structural damage to its beams, abutments and rail systems following the fire, required full demolition and replacement.

Midland Steel said the successful and rapid reconstruction demonstrates how modern methods of construction and advanced offsite rebar solutions can deliver major time savings on essential transport infrastructure projects.
Midland Steel Group continues to work with clients and contractors across Ireland and the UK to deliver innovative reinforcement solutions that improve safety, reduce time on site, and support the modernisation of the construction industry.
