Paddy O'Sullivan, Ronan Coffey, Stephen Bergin and David Dooley have won Laois GAA awards for 2025
Laois GAA have announced the winners of their prestigious GAA awards for 2025.
There are 13 clubs represented, with the awards ceremony set to take place on Friday, November 28, at the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise.
Senior Club Championship winning captain Ronan Coffey from Portarlington and Laois hurling captain David Dooley scooped the respective Inter-County Player of the Year Awards after their fine performances while playing for Laois.
Coffey was part of the Laois senior football setup for the first time, and he took to it like a duck to water. The role he played for Justin McNulty’s side was very similar to the way he operates for his club, Portarlington, being that link player between the midfield and the full-forwards.
Laois hurling captain David Dooley takes the Inter-County award after he had a superb year for Tommy Fitzgerald’s side in 2025. Dooley was immense for Laois as they yet again reached the Joe McDonagh Cup final, but they suffered defeat for the second year in a row.
There was little doubt as to who would be named the Senior Club Footballer of the Year, as Portarlington’s Paddy O’Sullivan was the standout performer for the county champs in the Laois Senior Football Championship.
Clough-Ballacolla’s Stephen Bergin was superb for his club in this year’s championship as his club won their fifth championship in six years. Clough-Ballacolla were without Stephen ‘Picky’ Maher for the championship, and Bergin stepped up from the placed balls and from play.
Ballyfin’s David Connolly is the Premier Intermediate Hurler of the Year, Park-Ratheniska’s Cian Nolan is Intermediate Footballer of the Year, Minor Hurler is Castletown's Tom Og Phelan, while Cian O’Sullivan is the Minor Footballer of the Year. Pat Delaney is the Hall of Fame recipient, while Mountrath’s Colin Bailey has been awarded Referee of the Year.
