Woman accused of stealing alcohol from Laois shop

A woman appeared in court accused of stealing hundreds of euro worth of alcohol from a shop in Portlaoise. 

Jenny Coonan (32) of Apartment 4, Sophia Housing, High Street, Tullamore, Co Offaly is accused of stealing €579 worth of alcohol from Aldi in Portlaoise on September 7, 2025. 

Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald requested disclosure in the case and legal aid as he said his client was welfare dependent.

Judge Susan Fay accepted jurisdiction, ordered disclosure and granted legal aid. She adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on December 15 for a plea or a date for hearing.
