Planning permission has been sought for the expansion of Ashbrook Industrial Park in Borris-in-Ossory which could see the creation of more jobs in Laois.
Liam and Josephine Campion submitted the application to Laois County Council with the aim of addressing capacity constraints at the industrial park.
Currently, between 80 and 100 people are employed at Ashbrook Industrial Park and the applicants estimate that its employment capacity could double if the proposed expansion is allowed.
The planning application is seeking permission to construct a new standalone warehouse, extensions to two existing industrial buildings, and the retention of an existing building.

The applicants also hope to install a new wastewater treatment system, pumping station, polishing filter, and new totem signage to the north site entrance off the R434.
Ancillary site works necessary to the completion of the development are also included in the plans, such as hard surfacing, internal road works, parking, silos, landscaping, boundary treatments, and drainage works.
The planning application stated that businesses currently located at the industrial park are experiencing growth and "require additional premises to remain viable and scale their operations."
The application explained: "Hi-Therm Homes and Eurodeck each require further space to expand, while Procon, a growing supplier to the education sector, intends to formalise a long-term lease. Additional enquiries for industrial space are regularly received, but the current lack of available and immediately deliverable space results in unrealised tenancy opportunities."
The applicants said that the proposed development is intended to address this issue with capacity as well as safeguard existing tenant growth and attract future enterprise.
Eurodeck Ltd. has also submitted a separate planning application for expansion works adjacent to that of Liam and Josephine Campion. According to their application, Eurodeck Ltd. is in the process of acquiring this site from Liam and Josephine Campion.
Eurodeck Ltd.'s proposed works include the construction of a new industrial building, the installation of one silo structure, and the retention of existing structures on the site. Also included in their plans is an improved circulation layout, along with access, safety and pedestrian segregation.
They are also looking to upgrade foul, stormwater and utilities as well as all other ancillary site development works.
Laois County Council are due to make their decision on both developments by February 7, 2026.
