Miriam O'Callaghan to host the special event in Carlow for Killeshin woman Sharon Brennan, on right, who died suddenly this year after illness.
RTÉ star Miriam O'Callaghan is inviting local people to support a special and poignant fundraiser in memory of Killeshin woman Sharon Brennan.
The Primtime presenter, who has Laois roots, is set to hold what promises to be an uplifting, live chat-show style event with panels of sports stars, media figures, and others sharing personal stories.
The Stories with Miriam - Night of Heart and Hope event in Carlow aims to raise funds for Pieta (suicide prevention) by honouring the memory of Sharon, who died earlier this year.
The organisers say it will bring together well-known voices, powerful personal journeys, and the kind of uplifting community spirit that makes a real difference.
It promises to be a special evening in memory of Sharon Brennan, the organisers say left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her through her kindness, strength, and warmth. They add that the event celebrates connection, courage, and the simple value of listening to one another’s stories.
The organisers say Fiona Grace, Sharon's sister, and Kim Nolan are two of our most important guests on the night.
“Both have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a close family member to suicide, and they will bravely share their stories of hope, resilience, and the power of community. Their voices will be central to the evening, reminding us why coming together matters so deeply,” said the organisers.
Miriam invited people to the event, which takes place in January.
“It's going to be a night of great guests, fun, laughter and a lot of inspiration and heart we'd love you all to go," she said.
Communities in Laois and Carlow were shocked and saddened when Sharon died suddenly on Saturday after an illness.
Sharon was the adored mother of Jack and Evan, and the wife of Paul Brennan, chairman of Killeshin GAA.
A native of Liscolman, Tullow, Co Carlow, she was the daughter of John and Mary Cosgrove, and sister of Jonathan, Keith, Caroline and Fiona.
Married to Paul for 20 years, Sharon was loved by her family and was also a popular and respected member of the Killeshin community.
While a private person, she played a big part in her adopted community, especially the Killeshin GAA club, along with her husband. Her contribution was recognised by the club at the time of her death.
“Sharon and her family are at the heart of this club. Alongside her husband and family, she gave generously of her time, spirit, and support over many years. Her sons, Jack and Evan, represent the next generation of dedication and talent within our club - something she was immensely proud of,” they said.
The event takes place from 7.30 pm on Wednesday, January 21, at the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow.
Killeshin GAA are among the many local groups in Carlow and Laois promoting the event.
They say tickets, costing €40, are selling fast for what promises to be a great night in aid of Pieta. MORE BELOW POST.
“Give your support if you can,” said the GAA club.
