A court was told directions are needed in the case of a man who is accused of burglary in Portarlington.

James Ward (34) of 62 Buttercup Avenue, Esker Hills, Portlaoise is accused of burgling a property and taking €350 cash and car keys at Riverside, Portarlington on June 13, 2018.

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client, who wasn’t present, had been in court up to lunchtime that day. She said the matter would require directions.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby agreed and said there was an injured party in the house.

Judge Susan Fay granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on January 26 for directions.
