Laois Gardaí have arrested a man following a tip-off from the public.
The man had a warrant out for his arrest, and through the public's intervention he was located and arrested.
"Mountrath Gardaí received a report from members of the public regarding an intoxicated male in the area," Gardaí explained.
"The male was subsequently arrested. During the course of enquiries, Gardaí established that he was the subject of an outstanding warrant."

Further investigation identified the individual on CCTV in connection with the theft of items from a local retail premises earlier that day.
The male has been charged and appeared before the Courts.
"This outcome reflects effective public vigilance, timely reporting, and proactive Garda response," Gardaí finished.
