Call to erect a street light at Mac’s Cross on the R430 in Newtown.

Laois County Council has been called to erect a street light at Mac’s Cross on the R430 in Newtown.

Addressing the council at the December meeting of the Graiguecullen / Portarlington MD, Councillor Ben Brennan said people have been waiting three years for the street light to be installed at the cross.

The council's Road Design team said they will meet with Cllr Brennan at the location and assess the current public lighting.
They added that the installation of a new light may cost approximately €5,000 depending on the amount of civil works required and the nearest ESB connection point available.
