HGVs disrupting people's sleep in Laois village

Councillors say HGVs are disturbing people's sleep in the morning and night through banging off a manhole.

HGVs banging off a loose manhole is causing residents to lose sleep in a Laois village. The "noise nuisance" is reportedly impacting residents in Stucker Hill in Abbeyleix.

Councillor Barry Walsh brought the issue to attention at the recent meeting of the Portlaoise MD, saying that passing traffic and especially HGVs are disturbing people's sleep in the morning and night through banging off the manhole.

He requested Laois County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland repair the manhole. The council said the Portlaoise MD Office will examine the location on the N77 with a view to carrying out repair works as required.
