Man accused of possessing child pornography in Laois

He appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court

A book of evidence was served on a man who is accused of having child porngraphy in Laois. 

The man (36), who has a Laois address but cannot be named due to reporting restrictions, is accused of possessing child pornography in Laois on January 10, 2023. 

Garda Counihan gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on the man at Portlaoise District Court. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had consented to the defendant being sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court. 

Judge Susan Fay issued the standard alibi warning and sent the defendant forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court beginning on February 17. She granted legal aid for one solicitor and one counsel and remanded the defendant on bail.
