Laois school goes crazy for golf with biggest fundraiser of the year

Gaelscoil Phortlaoise has launched its primary fundraising event of the year and is excitedly looking forward to the month of May when they will hold a golf classic. 

Martley's Gaelscoil Golf Classic, organised by Comhairle na dTuismitheoirí (Parents Council), takes place on Saturday, May 9 in Portlaoise Golf Club. CONTINUE READING BELOW PHOTO

At the launch on Thursday, February 26 Gaelscoil pupils Rory, Zach, Ollie,  Molly, DJ, Cian, Jay Eoin and  Kyle, who are fanatical about their golf gave an exhibition of putting on the school corridor.

“This is our primary fundraiser for the current school year, and all profits will be used by the Parents’ Council to support a wide range of extra-curricular activities and resources for our pupils," said Dominic Ó Braonáin, Príomhoide na Gaelscoile.

"These include: chess lessons; Irish dancing classes; cycling safety workshops; bus transport to matches; treat days such as our annual Hot Chocolate Day; sixth class graduation hoodies and celebrations and gifts for our First Holy Communion pupils, teachers, and assistants."
