Death Notices for Laois

John O'Brien - Portlaoise

The death took place on March 14 of of John O'Brien (Retired Prison Officer, Portlaoise Prison)of 38 Avondale Drive, Hanover, Carlow and Lanzarote, Spain.

Passed away unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at Portlaoise Regional Hospital, Co Laois.

Predeceased by his nephew David.

Beloved father of Kate and Sean, much loved brother of Lorraine, Eddie, Alan and the late Martin, treasured partner of Linda and cherished son of the late Teresa and Murt.

Remembered by his children Kate and Sean, son-in-law Damien, partner Linda, brothers, sister, sisters-in-law Marie and Charlene, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

John will repose at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Shamrock Sq (R93 C863) on Wednesday March 18th from 4pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening. Removal from there on Thursday morning at 11.45am to The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 Noon. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow

Denis Mahon - Mountmellick

The death took place on Sunday, March 15 of Denis Mahon, Derrybeg, Tullamore, Offaly / Mountmellick, Laois

Peacefully at the Regional Hospital Tullamore, surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his parents Denis and Rose and his brothers Charlie, Ned and Pat. Denis will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving wife Nancy and his children Niall, Róisín and Niamh, brothers, sister, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at O'Reilly's Funeral Home, Harbour Street, Tullamore (R35 FC84) on Tuesday (March 17th) from 4pm until 6pm. Funeral Mass for Denis will take place on Wednesday (March 18th) in St. Patrick's Church, Killeigh, at 11am. Burial will take place after Mass in Clonaghadoo Cemetery.

Bernadette Cousins - Rosenallis

The death took place on March 14 of Bernadette Cousins (née Hyland), Avenue Close, Gorey, Co. Wexford and formerly Corner House, Carnew and Rosenallis Co. Laois.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the gentle care of the staff of Oakfield Nursing Home.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Matt, baby son Matthew and sisters Philomena and Pauline.

Sadly missed by her daughters Margaret, Mary, Bernadette and Fionnuala, her sons Mattie and Eddie, her cherished grandchildren Ciara, Orla, Jennifer, Sarah, Jack, Laura, Michelle, Rachel, Róisín, Gavin, Matthew, Robyn and Alex and her dearly loved great-grandchildren Kealan and Hugh.

Deeply regretted by her brothers Tom, Joe and Edmond, sister-in-law Kathleen, daughter-in-law Gwen, sons-in-law Mick, Warren and P.J., nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Murphy's Funeral Home The Avenue Gorey (Y25 K122) on Wednesday (18th March) from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Removal from Murphy's Funeral Home on Thursday (19th March) at 11.30 a.m. to St. Michael's Church Gorey for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Ballyoughter Cemetery (Y25 KC99).

Marie Ready - Portlaoise

The death took place on Friday, March 13 of Marie Ready (née Clare), St Brigids Place, Portlaoise, Laois

Marie (Nena) Ready, St Brigids Place Portlaoise Co.Laois. Died peacefully, at Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her infant daughter Marie, parents William and Kathleen. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Paddy, sons Patrick and William, daughter Katie, and her partner Paddy, grandchildren Bridget and Kyle, sister Brigid, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan's funeral Home on Sunday, March 15th from 6 pm until 7:30 pm with rosary at 7 pm. Removal from her residence on Monday morning at 10:30 am to arrive at SS Peter and Paul's Church for 11 am Requiem mass.Followed by interment in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery.

Family flowers only donations if desired to friends of Tullamore regional Hospital.
