A Laois community is holding a night of music and storytelling to highlight the work of local artists, and raise funds for the village hall.

The committee of St Bernadette's Community Hall in Errill invite all to attend their event, 'A Song, A Tune and a Tale' by local artists and musicians.

The event will feature music, songs and stories from The Finns, Nora Fogarty, Mick Creagh, Annmarie Delaney, Christine Fogarty, the Eddie Dowling Céilí band joined by Brendan Ryan and Willie Fogarty, Jack and Mary Fahy, the Creagh Sisters and Noel Joyce.

"We want to promote local talent, that has always been the mission of the hall. To be a community base where people can get together," group PRO Claire McDermott told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"We want to celebrate the fantastic talent we have locally. We have a beautiful new hall and we want to continue to fund it, all funds on the night will go back into the hall," Ms McDermott explained.

"It's not so much a concert, it's two hours of entertainment from trad to singing and storytelling, it's a bit of everything in a relaxed environment. It's our first time doing something like this, we have done dramas and social dancing in the past that have all been very successful. We're very excited for it," she said.

The committee hope to utilise the hall as much as they can this coming year, for the benefit of the community and local groups.

The upcoming event will take place on Friday March 27 from 8pm to 10pm. Admission at the door is €15, which includes raffle tickets. All are welcome. Children under the age of twelve will not be admitted.
