A Laois Macra group have raised thousands of euro for a worthy cause, through their annual tractor and truck run.

Mountmellick Macra Light up Tractor and Truck Run have presented Save our Sons and Daughters (SOSAD) Laois with a cheque of funds raised from a recent event.

Mountmellick Macra ran their Tractor and Truck run on December 13, and were thrilled to donate their funds to SOSAD Laois this week.

"We were absolutely delighted to officially hand over a cheque for €22,934.60 to SOSAD Laois- the incredible proceeds from this year’s Light Up Truck & Tractor Run," a representative said.

"This is the highest amount we’ve ever raised, and it’s all thanks to every single person who took part, donated, supported, or helped out in any way. Your generosity and community spirit continue to amaze us," the Macra group said.

"We’re so proud to support this wonderful charity and help them continue the much‑needed services they provide. Wishing them every success in the years ahead.

"We’ll see you all again later this year- let’s make the next one even brighter," Mountmellick Macra finished.

SOSAD Laois were equally delighted to receive this funding.

"Thank you so much to all at Mountmellick Macra Light Up Truck And Tractor Run for your sterling work in raising a whopping €23000 on behalf of SOSAD Laois," they said.

"We were honoured to be the recipients of this donation and we witnessed first hand the amount of blood, sweat and tears, that went in to organising, what was a marvellous event bringing our community in Laois closer together.

"Special thanks to Michael O'Gorman, Marie Tuohy and the committee at Mountmellick Macra," SOSAD Laois praised.

"This donation ensures that we can continue to provide our essential counselling and suicide intervention service to all those that need it, in Laois and the surrounding counties. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir," the mental health charity finished.
