Portlaoise District Court
A man admitted sending threatening emails to an MMA business in Laois.
Kyle Kilduff (28) of Cashel Holiday Hostel, John Street, Tipperary appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
He is accused of threatening to kill or cause serious harm at Rathmiles, Portarlington and distributing, publishing or sending offensive content on August 27, 2025. The defendant was further accused of assault at Kyle Shopping Centre, Portlaoise on October 13, 2025.
Garda James Collins from Portarlington Garda Station said the defendant made no reply when cautioned.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case should remain in the district court only if a guilty plea is entered.
Garda Collins said it would be alleged the defendant sent 16 emails between 3.22pm and 4.21pm on August 27. He described the emails as being of a threatening nature and said the accused was arrested for making threats to kill or cause serious harm.
Garda Collins said the defendant admitted sending the emails when he was arrested. He read the content of one which stated: “You will be executed for treason against the king of loyalty. Beg for forgiveness or you will die”.
He said the email was addressed to the owner of an MMA business in Portarlington and while it was addressed to a man, a woman had read the communications.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said his client was pleading guilty to the offences. He said the man “has underlying mental health issues” and would have known the injured parties. Mr Fitzgerald said his client wanted the case dealt with and accepts the offending.
The accused then said mental illness “tactics” had been “deployed” against him.
Judge Susan Fay said she had reviewed the emails and would accept jurisdiction in the case.
Mr Fitzgerald asked if she would note the guilty plea and adjourn the matter for a probation report.
Sgt Kirby told the court that the accused had two previous convictions dating back to 2018.
Judge Fay noted the plea and ordered a probation report, victim impact statement, restorative justice and a community service suitability report. She adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on September 14.
