The Kyle Shopping Centre in Portlaoise
A woman is accused of stealing alcohol and groceries valued at over €2,000 from shops in Laois and Offaly.
Lavina Dorisor (30) of 1 Yellow Clay Manor, Commons Road, Navan, Co Meath is accused of stealing alcohol valued at €1,165 from Dunnes Stores, Kyle Shopping Centre, Portlaoise on August 28, 2024 and groceries and alcohol valued at €565 from the same supermarket on April 26, 2025. She is further charged with stealing €398 worth of goods from Tesco, Dublin Road, Edenderry, Co Offaly on April 26, 2025.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said it was alleged that the woman and her partner went into Dunnes Stores and took Jameson whiskey and other items valued at €1,165 at 3.15pm on August 28, 2024. “They were travelling in an 08 BMW 320”, said Sgt Kirby.
He said it was alleged she entered Dunnes Stores at the Kyle Centre in Portlaoise and stole €565 worth of items on April 26, 2025 and allegedly went to Tesco in Edenderry with her partner and stole items valued at €398.14 on the same day. He said the incident was captured on CCTV. Sgt Kirby said none of the items were recovered in any of the alleged thefts.
On hearing the facts, Judge Susan Fay said that although it was “on the higher end” of offending, she would accept jurisdiction.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald requested disclosure and asked for legal aid in the case. He said the BMW was an O8 reg and it belonged to the woman’s partner.
Judge Fay ordered disclosure, granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on April 27 for a plea or a date for hearing.
