Fuel price protest on the M7 in Portlaoise today

Laois Gardaí say protests on the motorway have caused issues for people with medical emergencies.

The M7 Motorway is being blocked in both directions by trucks between Junction 16 and 17 as part of ongoing protests in Portlaoise. The blockage, which is taking place as part of a national protest over high fuel prices,  is having knock-on impacts on approach roads to the motorway.

“A few medical emergencies, we have had difficulties trying to get them around the motorway,” a Portlaoise Garda said.
