Emo brothers included as Laois GAA link strong in London squad for Mayo clash

The Crowley brothers from Emo and Cahir Healy will be involved with London this weekend

There will be a strong Laois GAA interest in McGovern Park in Ruislip on Saturday afternoon as London take on Mayo in the quarter-finals of the Connacht Football Championship. The game is sold out, with a place in the last four on the line.

The London matchday squad includes two Laois players, with Emo brothers Finbarr and Liam Crowley both named among the 26 as The Exiles prepare to face Andy Moran’s Mayo side.

Both players are currently involved in the London football scene, with Liam Crowley lining out for Round Towers and Finbarr representing North London Shamrocks as part of their club commitments.

There is also a wider Laois connection within the squad and beyond, with both players strongly tied into the county setup back home. Their sister Ciara is part of the Laois Ladies panel, while their other sister, Niamh, is also based in London and will feature for The Exiles in the upcoming Connacht Championship campaign.

The Laois influence in London football extends beyond the playing group, with former Laois and Portlaoise dual star Cahir Healy also part of the backroom team. Healy joined the London set-up in 2021 after previously commuting from London to represent Laois, before retiring from inter-county football in 2024.

Saturday’s winners will face either Roscommon or New York in the semi-final, with Roscommon making the journey to the United States for their quarter-final clash, which takes place on Sunday, April 12 at 8pm.

The game throws-in at 2.30pm on Saturday, April 11. The game can be watched on GAA+.
