A planning application has been lodged for the development of two general industrial buildings in Portarlington.
Loadwise Logistics submitted the planning application to Laois County Council for the construction of the two industrial buildings which are to be built on a 4.5 hectare agricultural site along the Lea Road in Portarlington.
The application details plans for the two buildings, internal access roads, service yards, parking areas, bicycle shelters, footpaths, and all ancillary site infrastructure.
One of the industrial buildings has a proposed gross floor area of 3261.4 sqm and the second building will have a gross floor area of 2857.8 sqm.
The proposed works include the provision of an on-site foul drainage pumping station, rising main, a stormwater management system incorporating an attenuation tank, flow-control chamber, petrol interceptor, and outfall connection.

The development also includes a site substation, generator compound, water storage tank, all associated boundary treatments, signage, and landscaping.
Vehicular access to the proposed development will be provided from the R420 road.
According to the documents submitted with the planning application, the estimated timeframe for the construction phase is 16 months.
Laois County Council is due to make a decision on the planning application by June 4, 2026.
