Man before court as Laois Gardaí say ‘sizable’ amount of cash and drugs seized

Portlaoise District Court

A court was told a man is accused of having a “sizable” amount of drugs and cash in Laois.

Emmet Ward (35) of Agracar, Mountmellick, is accused of having drugs for sale or supply at Bridge Street, Portlaoise and at his address on April 12, 2024.

Det Garda Pat Camon said the defendant made no reply when charged under caution. He said he wasn’t objecting to bail but he did have a number of conditions which had been agreed.

He said the seizure was “quite a sizable amount and quite a sizable amount of cash” and he requested a six month adjournment.

Judge Susan Fay noted that the bail conditions included that the man remain sober and of good behaviour, sign on at a Garda Station, carry a mobile phone at all times where he can be contacted, reside at his address and notify Gardaí of any changes to his address.

She granted bail and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on December 14.
