Murder accused appears in court in Portlaoise

Kildare cocaine dealer jailed at Portlaoise court

A man has appeared in court in connection with the murder of a woman in Laois on December 14. 

Sean Egan, 36, appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court via videolink from Cloverhill Prison. 

Detective Garda Michael O’Donovan applied to amend the defendant’s address on the charge sheet to No Fixed Abode. 

Barrister Suzanne Dooner said there was no objection to the application to amend the address on the charge sheet. 

The defendant is charged with murdering Sharon Crean at 40 College Avenue, Mountmellick on December 14.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded the defendant in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on January 19.
