Tributes are being paid to immensely popular Laois man Ronan Culleton, who died in hospital in Dublin on Wednesday.
Mr Culleton of Cloonagh, Mountmellick peacefully passed away in Beaumont Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He is deeply missed by his loving wife Joanna, his adoring daughters Aoife, Aisling and Aoibheann; his parents Mary and Pat, his sister Maria, mother-in-law Bernie, brother-in-law James, sister-in-law Julie, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by his father-in-law Jimmy Gallagher.
In his death notice, his family thanked the Beaumont Hospital staff where he had been receiving care. “The family are eternally grateful to and wish to sincerely thank the paramedics and staff at Beaumont Hospital, all who cared for Ronan over the past number of weeks,” they stated.
Tributes have been posted online as news of Mr Culleton’s death filtered through.
Mountmellick Central Hub said: “We wish to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of a dear friend Ronan Culleton an absolute gentleman who would go above and beyond to help our Community including looking after power supply for our festival and also all the waste disposal afterwards Ronan was an absolute pleasure everytime May God look over his family and friends and may his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Portlaoise Enterprise Centre in a post said: “Our deepest sympathies go to the family of Ronan Culleton who died yesterday.
Ronan’s dad Pat is chairperson of our board of directors and has given many years of voluntary support to Portlaoise Enterprise Centre.
May Ronan rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this heartbreaking time.”
Portarlington Golf Club wrote: “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our esteemed member Ronan Culleton. Ronan joined Portarlington Golf Club as a Junior member, and represented Portarlington at interclub level. One of life's gentlemen and all round good guy , Ronan along with his dad Pat, did a huge amount of unseen work in the golf club over the last few years and he remained modest throughout, which showed the strength of his character.
Ronan will be sadly missed by all of us, and our sympathy goes out to the Culleton family at this difficult time."
Mr Culleton is reposing in Moloney's Funeral Home on Friday from 5pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday in St Joseph’s Church, Mountmellick at 1pm. Burial afterwards in St.Brigid's Cemetery, Rosenallis.
