Don't forget to change your clock this weekend as 'summertime' begins

Daylight saving

The coronavirus Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions are making us all feel like time is standing still but the clocks will change this weekend to mark the start of what is officially called 'daylight saving time'.

Summertime, also referred to as daylight saving time, begins in Ireland at 1am on Sunday, 27 March 2022.

It ends at 2am on Sunday, 30 October 2022.

The clocks change in order to make the best use of the natural light as the earth orbits the sun.

The clocks in all EU member states on the last Sunday in October and go forward on the last Sunday of March each year.
