Sad passing of baby Aria Rose

Sad passing of baby Aria Rose

The Leitrim Observer is deeply saddened to announce the death of baby Aria Rose Wilkie-Barry from Edergole, Dromahair.

In November we reported that a gofundme page had been set up to enable the brave little girl, who was just 12 months old at the time, with the chance to join her family at home. At that time Aria Rose had only been able to spend 12 days at home with her parents Shane and Tracey in Edergole, Dromahair, since she was born.

Aria Rose was born two months prematurely and was only expected to live for 2-3 months. At only 6 weeks old doctors learned of Aria Rose's syndrome and conditions namely hydrocephalus, polymicrogyria, 6 holes in her heart, compact cardiomyopathy, a dysplastic kidney, hypotonia and a rare genetic condition called cri du chat plus.

She had spent much of her young life travelling between Holles Street, Sligo University Hospital, Crumlin and Temple Street Hospitals. Her family wanted desperately to be able to bring her home and a special fundraiser had been started to help meet her complex care needs.

Aria Rose is survived by  her heartbroken parents, Shane and Tracy and her brother Brandon.

She will repose at her home on Sunday, February 19th from 3pm to 7pm (Eircode F91 NHR2). House private at all other times. Mass of the Angels at 12 noon on Monday, February 20th in St. Mary’s Church, Killenummery, Dromahair followed by burial at Creevelea Abbey New Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the Paediatric Ward c/o Friends of Sligo University Hospital.

The editor and staff of the Leitrim Observer would like to express our sincere sympathy to her parents, brother, family and  all their relations and friends.
