Football
Well done to the First Year boys football team who had a fantastic win last Monday against Coola. Mohill 7-11 Coola 4-8. The lads played exceptionally well in the first half building up a 4-8 to 1-3 lead at half time.
Coola came back into the game in the 2nd half. Mohill played 10 minutes with fourteen men due to a black card. In this time we were fortunate Coola missed two penalties.
We now have two wins from three games and look in a good position to progress to the next round. Well done to Mr Sheridan and the boys. Also thank you to Mohill GAA for the use of their pitch, it is a credit that the pitch is in such good condition given all the recent rain.

Commemoration
Well done to Darren Duignan, Fifth Year on his participation in the centenary commemoration of Dr Paddy Muldoon’s Murder that took place in Mohill in 1923. Darren played a part in the film ‘Murder in Mohill, 1923,’ which premiered on Mohill’s Bridge Street on Saturday night, March 18th.
The film was directed by local man David Wynne and Darren played the part of Young McManus. The film features a host of local stars and contributors. Well done to all on this successful project.

Girl Guides
Well done to Lorraine McNabola, Fifth Year and her fellow competitors in the North Longford Senior Branch Girl Guides who took part in the National UK and Ireland finals of the First Lego League Challenge on March 25th.
The girls had to design, build and code a robot to move around a table of energy themed challenges. They had to identify a super-powered problem either nationally or internationally, find a solution to their problem, then construct a prototype of that solution.
The girl chose the energy crisis as their problem and nuclear fusion as their proposed solution. They then had to complete a project under the categories Robot Design, Innovation and Core Values and present the project to a panel of judges. We await the results of the final.

Leaving Cert and Junior Cycle Exams
Our current Leaving Certs and Junior Cycle students are busy preparing for exams. The Leaving Certs are practising for their orals in Irish, French and German. They are practising in class and engaging in mock orals with their teachers. Leaving Cert and Junior Cycles students also have their Home Economic practical coming up. We wish them the best of luck in their upcoming exams.

Under 14 Boys Football
Our Under 14 boys played a game against Coola last Friday at home. The game took place in the local GAA grounds. Thank you to Mohill GAA club for facilitating the game. Thanks to TP McLoughlin for refereeing the game. The game took place in wet and windy conditions but we still managed to achieve a great win with a score line of 5 9 to 2 points. Well done to the boys and Mr Rogers on this great win.

BT Young Scientist
Sara O'Beirne entered the BT Young Scientist competition with her project on sustainable and cost-effective wind turbines and this week was invited to showcase her project in the Iveagh House in Dublin. The showcase was held by Self Help Africa and Irish Aid. It was a collection of eleven projects from the Young Scientist competition that aimed to help the global south.
Sara presented her project to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Sean Fleming as well as many other special guests like the Head and Founder of the BT Young Scientist, Doctor Tony Scott. It was a wonderful opportunity to attend, and the project was very well received. Well done Sara, such a fabulous experience.
