More parking needed at Pól an Eas Waterfall

The recent increase in visitors and interest in Pól an Eas Waterfall in Aughnasheelin has led to Cllr Ita Reynolds Flynn calling for additional car parking spaces.
The Fine Gael councillor also asked Leitrim County Council last month to consider upgrading the private road, (located at the second entrance) to a public road as this particular road is used by large volumes of people visiting the amenity.
Leitrim County Council replied “there is currently a car park and picnic area at the waterfall which is owned by Ballinamore Community Council.

“If the community wish to upgrade this car park, we would advise them to seek funding through ORIS, CLAR or Town and Village schemes later this year.”
The Ballinamore Municipal Meeting heard that the waterfall saw a return of visitors during Covid and that interest has not fallen off.
Cllr Reynolds Flynn explained that the public use this private road to turn and she suggested it could be used as part of the waterfall amenity.
Council engineer Darragh O’Boyle said the local authority will not be taking the road in charge.
