EastSide Arts present Billy Boy in The Glens in Leitrim

EastSide Arts present Billy Boy in The Glens in Leitrim

A scene from Billy Boy

A firey play about building bonfires in Belfast is coming to The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton this Saturday, April 15 at 8pm.
Billy Boy, by East Belfast writer Rosemary Jenkinson, is inspired by interviews with young bonfire builders.

It looked at the contentious Twelfth, the bonfires or 'bonies' which take over Belfast every summer and the world of the young guys fired-up atop the pallets (and tyres).

The great set and gleaming orange lights signal the Loyalist fiefdom.

Performed by the amazing John Travers, Aaron is looking after the biggest and most controversial boney in the East and is determined to fight the council’s ruling.

The problem is, if he gets into any more trouble, he might have to pack his bags.
Think you know this story? Come along and find out what you’re missing.

After a successful run at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe, Billy Boy is coming to Manorhamilton!

Framed by real historical events and based on interviews with some of the bonfire builders themselves Billy Boy charts the progress of both the fire and of Aaron’s prospects in a community fighting to be heard.

This is a one hour one man show.
Open your mind to a story we know oh so well from the news but not from the inside.

Tickets are €15 on www.theglenscentre.com or call (071) 9855833.
