Top selling author to address Mohill Historical Society

Ronan McGreevy is an Irish Times journalist and author from Carrick-on-Shannon

Mohill & District Historical & Heritage Society presents a talk by Ronan McGreevy on Friday, April 21 at 8pm in Mohill library.


Ronan will talk about his recent publication ‘Great Hatred: The assassination of Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson MP’ , who started the Irish Civil War and changed the course of Irish history.

Why was this Longford-born British imperialist shot by two British-born Irish nationalists? What role did Michael Collins play in this calamitous event?


Ronan McGreevy is a journalist with The Irish Times.

He is the author of the book ‘Wherever the Firing Line Extends: Ireland and the Western Front’. He was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for his work on remembrance and the ‘First World War. Great Hatred: The Assassination of Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson MP’, his second book, was an Irish bestseller and The Sunday Business Post's Irish history book of 2022. McGreevy is from Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.


Also on the night before the talk there will be showing of the film on Dr Muldoon ‘Murder in Mohill 1923’.


The society has republished the brochures that were available for the night of the commemoration film with new added material and will be for sale at the talk.


Entry into the talk is €5pp.
