Efforts to slow down traffic through Ballinaglera

Independent Cllr Gerry Dolan has called for slow down signs for Ballinaglera as traffic is “flying by” and he said it is a “disaster waiting to happen.”

Cllr Enda McGloin supported the motion and said there is a natural hill from the Drumshanbo side which naturally increases speed on vehicles as they approach the built up area.
Council Engineer Darragh O'Boyle said the area is defined with village speed limits of 50kmph.
He said if people are speeding Gardai should be notified. The council also suggested a community group seek CLAR or towns and village funding.

However he said he would look into the possibility of low cost road markings or speed bars on the Dowra side.
Cllr Dolan asked if the speed limit could be reduced to 30km but was informed it could not.
