Ciara Bohan is from Fenagh
Ciara Bohan from Fenagh is vying for this year's title of Miss Earth Ireland which is an annual environmentally themed competition which selects an Irish representative for Miss Earth.
The theme is “beauties for a cause” and the goal is to promote environmental awareness and charity endeavours.
Ciara works as a Special Needs Assistant (SNA) and is also a qualified fitness instructor tutoring for the Leitrim Sports Partnership.
“I was put forward by a few of my friends to go for Miss Earth Ireland this year. I am delighted to have been picked as a finalist for the competition.
"Focusing on the environment, I hope to encourage more people to adopt a road which is an initiative run by Leitrim County Council - this entails someone picking a section of a road and maintaining that road and keeping it litter free.
"I think it’s very important to encourage people about recycling and looking after our environment.
"It (the competition) is something definitely out of my comfort zone and I am excited for the next couple of weeks ahead. At the moment, we are on charity week raising funds for Voice Ireland, which empowers individuals and local communities to take positive action to conserve our natural resources.
"I am very grateful to everyone who has donated to my fundraiser so far. I have been overwhelmed by all the support I have received the past couple of weeks, and for the next few weeks as well.
"Thank you to Gerties Canal Stop for sponsoring me, to all at Fenagh Ladies GAA, the Fenagh Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others, U14 Fenagh Girls, Michelle Fanning’s Assorted Fitness in Ballinamore, Lorna Thompson’s Cakes, Donohoes SuperValu Ballinamore, all my family, friends and colleagues both at the Leitrim Sports Partnership and Cnoc Mhuire for all their support and generosity over the past few weeks. I’m excited to represent Leitrim this year in the Miss Earth Ireland competition.”
