Major funding for St Patrick's Hospital and Sligo University Hospital

Significant capital funding has been announced for the Sligo/Leitrim area under the 2023 Health Capital Plan.

Funding of over €1 billion has been allocated for 2023 to progress and deliver a range of acute and community projects across the country.

Locally, Sligo University Hospital has been allocated €16.64m for capital projects including €2.68m for additional bed capacity with the provision of two 21-bed wards.

North West Hospice is allocated €4.75m for an extension to provide 12 beds.

Meanwhile in Carrick-on-Shannon the development of projects at St Patrick’s Hospital have been earmarked with €2.7m allocated for a Community Nursing Unit on the existing HSE campus.

The funding has been warmly welcomed by local TD Frank Feighan.
